Bolivia 2018 – Día Cinco

Today started with a hearty egg and ham breakfast before making our way to the worksite. When we arrived, the wall of the church that we had worked on yesterday was nearly finished.

Today the primary goal was to prepare soil and stones for the foundation of the church extension. The soil would be used to insulate pipes, and the rocks would be used for the cobblestone foundation.

So most of our job for the day was to throw shovel-loads of rock and dirt against a sifting-screen, and to break the larger stones with pickaxes. Others would work on concrete mixing.

In the midst of the labor, we had the opportunity to engage with the local children who were visiting the church after school. Throughout the day, the group continued to bridge cultural and linguistic barriers as we built relationships with the local church and community.

We are now half way through our work days, and pray that our remaining time will be spent to God’s glory, engaging with the people of Cochabamba and being a blessing where and when we can.

As you continue to graciously support our group in prayer, we ask that you specifically pray for encouragement in God’s promise that our labor is not in vain. Pray that he will help us understand the eternal value of our work.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

– 1 Corinthians 15:58
